Banding Together The Carrollton Station Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing relief to area musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina, released Feeder Bands on the Run, a compilation of twenty songs in the singer/songwriter vein, shortly before Jazz Fest. The songs were written after, and in direct response to, Hurricane Katrina, with songs by John Gros, Anders Osborne, Susan Cowsill, Fred LeBlanc and Jimmy Robinson among others. The Foundation’s board met on June 14 to start reviewing applications for assistance, and is trying to start offering assistance as soon as possible. Only a handful of musicians have applied so far, but, “I think that’ll change once we get the word out, and these people start receiving the help they need,” says Eric Orlando, one of the chief architects of the Foundation.

Orlando says that upon their re-arrival in New Orleans after the hurricane, he and the other officers “just wanted to do something to help somebody else out, and the response from [contributing] musicians was great.” All proceeds are being donated to New Orleans musicians, and need-based assistance can be applied for either online or at Carrollton Station, located uptown at 8140 Willow St.

The CD is available in stores, online at louisianamusicfactory.com, at Carrollton Station Bar and Grill, or by phone at (504) 865-9190.
