Story

It was written by myself and John Boutte and is a celebration of what New Orleans is and was, written as a New Orleans style Jazz Funeral song. Slow in the beginning to mourn the passing of a loved one and then kicking into the party that New Orleans always becomes.

There is a line in the song which goes," when the Mississippi's overflowing, and the street car has seen it's day. When all is gone the plantations hallelujah the Treme' and the Vieux Carre'', the day after the flood Boutte called me in tears and said," baby, we done prophesized it, the water rose and the Treme's gone."

That was the funeral and I hope we all begin dancing again like this song, like New Orleans herself.
